Does McCain run for the money, or the votes?

Fri Jul 18, 2008 at 05:04:19 AM PDT

McCain's flip-flopping has become so consistent it's impossible to figure out any central message. There might be a reason for this -

Sometimes it pays to look between the lines. The bloggers at the L.A. Times found a few entertaining facts:

Unlike last year, McCain is working hard to raise money now, and his schedulers fill in the blanks with interviews and other events to attract free media coverage wherever they happen to be.

Lieberman; "I don't care to belong to any club that would accept me"

Mon Jul 14, 2008 at 07:37:41 AM PDT

The New York Times finds that Lieberman is losing his friends.

Mr. Lieberman was leaning back in a chair in his Senate office, wearing a loose-fitting pinstriped suit, grinning a lot and appearing quite comfortable while describing "my uncomfortable position." He compared his predicament to the old Groucho Marx conceit, "I don’t care to belong to any club that will accept me as a member."

So there, Democrats!

NY Times - Obama is not 'change'

Fri Jul 04, 2008 at 04:10:23 AM PDT

via their lead editorial this morning:
NY Times - Obama is new and not improved

They compare the good old Obama with the new, not improved version. Here's one comparison:

The new Barack Obama has abandoned his vow to filibuster an electronic wiretapping bill if it includes an immunity clause for telecommunications companies that amounts to a sanctioned cover-up of Mr. Bush’s unlawful eavesdropping after 9/11.

In January, when he was battling for Super Tuesday votes, Mr. Obama said that the 1978 law requiring warrants for wiretapping, and the special court it created, worked. "We can trace, track down and take out terrorists while ensuring that our actions are subject to vigorous oversight and do not undermine the very laws and freedom that we are fighting to defend," he declared.

Now, he supports the immunity clause as part of what he calls a compromise but actually is a classic, cynical Washington deal that erodes the power of the special court, virtually eliminates "vigorous oversight" and allows more warrantless eavesdropping than ever.

Connecticut for Lieberman Party finds a new direction

Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 05:16:48 AM PDT

The CFL Party was started by Sen. Lieberman after he lost the Democratic primary to Ned Lamont. The Senator neglected to join his party, and the wiley Prof. John Orman took it over. I was elected Secretary, and with our other members, we used the party as a vehicle to hold Joe accountable.

Lieberman declares self to be "unnatural"

Sat Mar 15, 2008 at 06:00:16 AM PDT

The Senator visits Fairfield University, and embarrasses Connecticut again. WTF?$@!??

To separate religious faith from American public life is unnatural, U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman, an Orthodox Jew, told a largely Roman Catholic student audience Friday at Fairfield University.
"Faith is part of our strength," he said. Lieberman also told students he is thrilled about having an audience with the pope and defended the continued American role in Iraq after nearly five years of bloodshed.

This Joe Lieberman?

THIS one??? The one who said of John Hagee, the man who believes Katrina was God's revenge?

Fortunately, you here tonight know that evil will not prevail if good people act. And I know you will not allow Iran and Al Qaeda to triumph over America and Israel.

What religion is he talking about?

Joe Lieberman registers as a Democrat in Stamford

Here is the response from the Connecticut for Lieberman Party Chair, John Orman:

Lieberman Lies to Secretary of State and Citizens of Connecticut Again

Update from the Stamford Times, which notes that Joe's wife and daughter registered as unaffiliated.

Ask CT's Susan Byesiewicz tonight about Joe's petition

Wed Aug 01, 2007 at 01:53:07 PM PDT

Secretary of State, Susan Bysiewicz will be live blogging tonight at Myleftnutmeg.com from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. We will be asking her about:

• New voting machines

• Training for registrars

• Municipal elections

• Presidential election calender

However, there is one question that haunts me.

Why did she choose not to investigate Joe Lieberman's illegal petition?

CT SoS Susan Bysiewicz - "Joe's petition fine with me"

Sat Jul 14, 2007 at 06:11:29 AM PDT

So it looks like filing a false petition and misleading the voters that you will join your own party are all legit in Connecticut, according to secretary of state Susan Bysiewicz.

"Believe me, I know there are people who feel very frustrated with Senator Lieberman's choices because we hear from them every day in our office," Bysiewicz said Wednesday. But "the next time people will have the opportunity to opine on Mr. Lieberman's candidacy will be in 2012."

Nobody wants the soldiers home more than Joe, either. But how many soldiers will die in the next five years while our Senator pounds the war drum?

The CFL Chair has a question on our 1 year anniversary

John Orman, Elected Chair of the CFL Party wants to know what happens when a candidate doesn't join the party he is elected under.

Senator Lieberman has a very bad day

Fri Jun 29, 2007 at 04:49:10 AM PDT

First, Joe had to step over a prostrate protester in his office to get to work:

"Would someone please, please give me some water?" whimpered the fainting Code Pink demonstrator.

"Get that damned woman out of my way!" roared the impatient Senator. "I have to give another press conference - to let everyone know that things are going beautifully in Iraq!"
