Saturday Night Chop & Weld Shop

Sat Jan 06, 2007 at 04:58:09 PM PDT

This weeks diary will be on an overhead crane.

The exhaust specailty shop I was working at in 2005 needed a way to lift the dies for the bender onto the machines. Steve the owner was going to add a new machine to the one he already owned.

Steve had been planning this for a while. His father found an old building with an overhead crane in it. The building was going to be demolished so he unbolted the rails & beams.

Make the jump please.

It's 73* and mild here in So Florida.

Edited to add if you can post a picture of a beautiful sunrise that would be super cool.

Saturday Night Chop & Weld Shop

Sat Dec 30, 2006 at 06:11:22 PM PDT

This week we will do a re-build on a early 1950's DoAll vertical saw.

A little background of how I learned to build objects. I was 14 when I started using power tools because I wanted to be in autoracing. I was introduced to auto racing at the age of 9 in 1963. By the time I got out of high school in 1972, racecars were all I wanted to do. I met a driver my age that had a race car & a few weeks later it got wrecked & the car was junk. So a group of us built a new one. This was my start at learning how to start & finish a project. I went on to build many racecars trailers & support equipment.

Steve My boss @ the exhaust speciality shop found the first DoAll he has in 1993. He rebuilt it & it's still in use at the plant. Steve is the type of guy that wants everything the same.

Follow me over the jump to see what one looks like.

Saturday Night Auto Shop

Sat Dec 23, 2006 at 06:06:20 PM PDT

I changed to Auto shop tonight to do a diary on my nephew's Dodge Neon.

Should I pick on him a bit?? Well in October Scott & family Mel his wife & Anastasia came for a visit. Ana was almost 11 months then. So we were talking & Scott told me about the Neon not running. Mel was driving it down the road & it quit running.
Scott & Mel both couldn't tell me much about what had happened. They let a repair center check it out. They were told it broke a timing belt. I'm guessing the company tried to change the belt.

I told Scott to put it on the trailer & bring it to me & I'd fix it. I had no idea what I would need to do to fix it. So yesterday the family came to town for Christmas & they loaded up the car to be repaired.

Follow me over the jump for what I found.

Saturday Night Chop & Weld Shop

Sat Dec 16, 2006 at 06:11:37 PM PDT

This weeks diary will be on building a tailpipe bench for the exhaust system company I worked @ from 3/04 till 12/05.

Steve the owner wanted a bench built to build & jig up the tail pipes for the nascar type vehicles. He spent a few days figuring out how he wanted the top of the bench to be shaped. His reason for the shape of it was that he wanted to be able to get to or reach any part of the tailpipes easily. So the shape is a big Y.

Follow me over the jump for this weeks project

Saturday Night Chop & Weld Shop

Sat Dec 09, 2006 at 06:21:51 PM PDT

I tried a diary last week that didn't do to well. So this week I have pictures to help me with the project I'll try to explain this week.

This week it will be a set of gates. When I arrived in So. Florida in January I made the rounds of old friends. I stopped in to see Bobby & Wanda Johns. I worked for Bobby in the early 80's in his race tire & wheel business. Bobby Raced in Nascar in the 50's & 60's.

While talking about how things were in Miami Bobby asked if I knew anyone that did rod iron work. I asked what it was he needed. The gates at his house had rotted away from the sprinklers over a 25 year period. So I told him I'd go look & see if it was something I could do. I stopped at his house & measured the gates & came home & drew up what I would like to build for them.

Saturday Night Chop & Weld Shop

This will be an attempt to write a diary on a goal I have to use my welding/fabricating skills to help elect Democrats.

A little background of how I learned to build objects. I was 14 when I started using power tools because I wanted to be in
autoracing. I was introduced to auto racing at the age of 9 in 1963. By the time I got out of high school in 1972, racecars were all I wanted to do. I went on to build many racecars trailers & support equipment.

In 1987 someone asked me if I could build a billboard trailer. I told the person let me draw what I think it would look like & write out a material list so I could give a ball park cost. Long story shorten I built the trailer. It's one of the many things I built that I wished I had taken pictures of. I've wanted to build these trailers for political candidates ever since. I just never did the PR work to do it.

Follow me over the jump & I'll try to give a visual of one of these billboards I'd like to build.

FL-22 A view from a volunteer

Sat Oct 28, 2006 at 04:24:08 AM PDT

Markos started pounding his keyboard about mid July to get out from behind the screen & off our asses ! I did just that. So I set out to help 2 candidates. I'm registered to vote in NC-08. At this time I'm in So Florida helping sell 2 family houses.
The I'm house I'm staying at is in FL-20, a safe DEM seat. I looked around & FL-22 was closest, Some 37 miles to the south office in Pompano Fl. I finally got the nerve up to call the office. Donna was my first contact there. I asked was there something I could do.

Signs noting Negron replaces Foley on ballot get OK

Thu Oct 05, 2006 at 04:41:18 AM PDT

South Florida wakes up to Florida Division of Elections ruling that has cleared the way for polling places throughout the 16th Congressional District to post signs alerting voters that Joe Negron has taken the place of former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley on the Nov. 7 ballot.

The move also comes despite opposition from Democrats and concerns by some constitutional law experts that such signs would promote one candidate over the other, perhaps violating state law that prohibits campaign material within 100 feet of polling locations.

Bill Clinton Poll on local radio stations website

Mon Sep 25, 2006 at 05:23:07 AM PDT

The local Oldies Goldies station has a poll up asking if Bill Clinton Tried to get Osama bin Laden. The radio station is making a big deal about Bills Interview & passing off the terror threat rising because of Iraq.

Could you please go vote. I did this with a grade George Bush poll before & it turned out great. If I remember correctly George got an F from 87% of the voters in that poll. It was fun listening to them announce the results the next morning.

This morning The DJ & 2 news people are laughing about Bill's answers to Chris. They keep playing the "conservative hit job" part & that "smirk on your face".

Thanks & Have a wonderfull day

Grade GWB's performance in office poll

Mon Jul 31, 2006 at 06:12:51 AM PDT

this is my first Diary

Our local Oldie Goldie radio station does a daily poll.
Today GWB is in Miami, so the station is doing a Grade the president poll.

I thought you kossack's would like to grade George !

go to http://majic1027.com

Thanks I'm sure you can find a letter you like.
I'm sure George's motorcade will make travel in Miami unbearable as they close roads to allow him to sneak around town so no one can protest along the route he takes.

This diary thing is harder than I thought. Kos has made it so you have to think to post something on the site.
which is wise. So I'll just ramble along to see if I can get this by the auto checker.
